Government Eco Scheme
Green Homes Grant Scheme 2020
What is ECO3?
A government efficiency scheme
The Energy Companies Obligation (ECO) scheme was designed by the UK government to help reduce carbon emissions and tackle fuel poverty. To you this means that if your house does not have cavity wall, loft or room in roof insulation then you can apply for a funding grant to pay towards the installation of insulation and energy efficient heating systems.
The Big 6
The ECO (Energy Company Obligation) scheme creates a legal obligation for all energy suppliers. This means that even the larger energy suppliers, including the ‘big six’, will fund the installation of energy efficiency measures in households across the UK.
As TrustMark certified Heating and Insulation specialists we work with energy suppliers to introduce energy efficiency measures into your home. This includes loft or wall insulation, or electrical storage heater replacement.
suppliers offer ECO?
Energy suppliers with more than 200,000 customers are automatically required to deliver ECO. However, more suppliers have joined recently, as all suppliers with more than 150,000 customers are to be involved in 2020.
If you want to know more about the ECO initiative you can visit the Which? website here.
Minimum Energy Efficiency Standards
It is now unlawful to rent a property which breaches the requirement for a minimum E rating on an EPC certificate. A civil penalty of up to £4,000 will be imposed for breaches. A tenant can apply for consent to carry out energy efficiency improvements in privately rented properties.
